Athlete Spotlight – February 2022

  It’s been an incredible month for some of our athletes and we’ve seen some incredible results and achievements in all sports.  

Swimming

Thomas Flower performed well at the Sunshine State conference. He won 2 golds in the 4×200 Freestyle Relay and 4×50 Freestyle Relay. The 4×200 relay broke the NSU and the SSC meet record. He also achieved 2 Silver medals in the 200 Freestyle and the 4×100 Freestyle Relay. Mille Clausen Berg smashed it at the Great MidWest & Mountain East Athletic Conference and won 3 golds! These were in the 100, 200 and the 400m Medley Relay.  

Track & Field

Emmanuella Kone achieved a new school record at Lenoir Rhyne University with an impressive time of 7.73 in the 60m dash. Harry Crosby has had a great start to the season and bagged himself South of England long jump title! He’s also came second at Nationals in the long jump with a great jump at 7.18m. Lewis Budgen also achieved a new school record at Lenoir Rhyne University for the men’s 3k. He ran at an impressive time of 8:33.68, breaking the previous record by 7 seconds! Katie Chapman achieved new PBs in the 60m hurdles (8.86) and in the 60m sprint (7.85). Ella Rush achieved new PBs in the long jump (6.05m), the 60m hurdles (8.67), 60m sprint (7.62) and the shotput (11.6m). Olivia Austin also achieved a new PB in the 4k shotput (11.74m) – a 1.38m improvement on her last PB!

 

Golf

Mathis Lefevre placed 1st in represent New Mexico Junior College in The Cactus Thaw. He shot an impressive -6 overall! Sofie Kibsgaard Neilson represented the University of Oregon at the Lamkin San Diego Invitational. She tied 4th overall with Rose Zhang who is the #1 WAGR player. Laurenz Kubin also played well in the same tournament representing Odessa College shooting -2 overall and finishing in 5th place. Nicole Lorup shot -1 in The Show (hosted by Houston) and place 3rd overall. Adrien Dumont de Chassart represented The University of Illinois at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate and shot -6 placing him 4th overall. Annabell Fuller placed 7th in the FAU Paradise Invitational shooting -7 overall. She also received an invitation to play in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur! Kyle Kistenmany was tied in 3rd place at the Claude Jacobs Invitational hosted by Houston – Victoria. He shot -1 overall. Liam Gobin was also tied 3rd at the Claude Jacobs Invitational hosted by Houston – Victoria with a score of -1.   We love hearing about our athletes’ successes.
