Philip was the men’s golf head coach from 2015 to 2021 at the D1 college UTRGV. As a coach, Tate guided the program to a pair of top-five finishes in the 2021-22 season. Prior to UTRGV, he was the head coach at St Thomas University and assistant coach at Texas State University during the 2012-13 season. He also has a vast background as a golfer. Her was a four-year letterman at Texas Tech University, where he was a two-time All-American scholar and was a member of the 1996 Southwest Conference Championship Team.

Every day at practice as head coach. Those moments of building the team and preparing them for competition. Leaving the course and knowing we were better than the day before.
