Interview

Give us 5 words that best describe you as an athlete:

Competitive, determined, enthusiastic, trustworthy, genuine.

Tell us about your best memory of your athletic career:

Being able to compete in golf competitions around the UK has been amazing but my best and closest memory is winning the Welsh Faldo series event. It was a competition I would never have entered if it wasn’t for my girlfriend playing in the competition herself and urging me to play. After 2 rounds I didn’t think I had much of a chance being 5 shots back, but I had been unlucky the first 2 days with the putter.

I went into the final round with no expectations just hope. Early in the round I holed 2 solid birdie putts to take me 2 under par and from there I carried on not looking at the leaderboard just making sure that my best would be out on the golf course, and I could be proud of it. Coming down the last 3 holes the camera men started to follow me, so I realized I must’ve been in contention. Then overhearing the camera man waiting for the fairway to clear on 18th I knew I had a 5 shot lead after my latest birdie. After a steady 18th hole par and being named the winner, I was immensely proud and happy of what I had achieved on that last day.

Goals:

My golfing goals have always been the same since I was young, I would love to be a very good and respected amateur golfer dominating the Teesside district and getting into the Yorkshire men’s team alongside winning the Yorkshire amateur championship.

Anything else we should know?

In 2019 I won the club championship for my first time as the underdog and youngest in the field, winning this brought me immense happiness and self-belief that I could win no matter how good of a field I was playing in.
