Tell us about your best memory of your athletic career:
One of my best memories is from playing in the final group of a tournament at my home course. To compete for my own golf club in an event of significance, meant the world to me. Although I wasn’t able to win, I was still proud of having a spot on the podium. The thing I’m perhaps most proud of is my mental fight in the final round. My match was against a player from the national team, and I held my own against him till almost towards the end. In each hole I tried to give my opponents as little space as possible. Last year, on a different course, I had struggled with the pressure. I was not ready for the pressure of being in the last flight and being in contention for the win. However this time around, I believed in myself, and played confidently and fiercely, not nervous and intimidated. This tournament proved that I was my mentally stronger and that my training had been effective.
Goals:
I would like to first work towards optimizing my mindset during tournament rounds. I would strive towards becoming the best player possible by working towards improving everything through rigorous practice and effort. This is my goal for golf, since I am convinced that performance on the course is a result of preparation minus distractions and interferences. I am learning to have faith and to think clearly under the pressure of performance. Golf has taught me the value of attitude and strong positive mentality.
Anything else we should know?
I love competition and I enjoy pressure situations. I work hard every day because I want to earn my results. I’m motivated to improve, open to coaching, and excited about the opportunity to grow as part of a college golf team.
